Grace In Kenya provides missions support to communities in the Nyanza province in western Kenya, about a 45-minute drive from Kisumu. Beginning in 2008, we have had the privilege of sending short term mission teams and building relationships with the people in the villages of Kandaria and Katito. Grace In Kenya is strategically partnering with House of Hope, a ministry to orphans and widows based in Katito.
House of Hope exists to meet physical, emotional, educational, medical, and spiritual needs of orphans and widows within the Nyanza province. Since its inception in 2001, House of Hope has been able to help over 300 children. David and Justine Okongo, founders and directors of House of Hope, began this ministry in their home as a result of personal tragedies within their own families. Today, House of Hope has a ministry site based in Katito, Kenya. With a medical clinic open to the public and a children’s dormitory nearly completed, the Okongos have plans for an additional dormitory, dining hall, school, and staff housing to be added to the site. Through this ministry many children and widows are given hope in the midst desperate circumstances.
While the issues of world hunger, disease, and lack of clean water can seem overwhelming, the solution is very simple. It is merely one helping one. If each person does their part, the problem can be minimized and eventually deleted. Grace in Kenya has chosen to concentrate our efforts to this area of Kenya and do our part to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of the people of Kenya.
